A tour with a wonderful difference - not just a gallery tour, but also a fascinating discovery of the joys of art and an insight into the hidden secrets behind different art movements
Within the beautiful, relaxing surroundings of the National Gallery, this tour uses paintings from the gallery's extensive collection, including the world famous Caravaggio: The Taking of Christ, as examples to explain to you the essence of different art movements up to, and including, modern art. The tour will also introduce you to the paintings of some of our famous Irish artists including Jack B Yeats.
This tour hopes to answer common questions about art: What makes this painting famous?... What is this painting really about?... What should I look out for in a painting like this?
Tour guide Cathy Roche says "I like to define this tour as a 'life-enriching' experience. What you'll discover on this tour will last you for the rest of your life, and add countless memorable moments to your future art viewing."
At the end of this tour you are free to continue touring the galleries collection in your own time while testing out your new skills!
