If you would like to join the conversation - to vary your cultural connections - to sample the range of cultural encounters the city offers then the Joined-Up-Thinkers Day is for you.

Art Impressions, The Flying Book Club, and the world famous Abbey Theatre have combined to make this possible.

Our One Day Timetable

10:00 - 11:30 Great Irish Writers: An Introduction
There are riches aplenty in Ireland's literary heritage and this session will help you to locate individual writers in a tradition of innovative and hugely imaginative work. We will explore samples of writing from the key movements in Irish literature including some of our highly acclaimed contemporary writers' work.

11:30 - 12:00 Coffee

12:00 - 1:30 Walking Tour of the city finishing at Dublin Writers' Museum
Dublin is a compact city with a host of interesting landmarks and many sites of literary, historical and architectural interest. We will follow in the footsteps of James Joyce's Leopold Bloom for some of our way, taking in many atmospheric and unique locations, including examples of Dublin's famous Georgian squares.

1:30 - 2:30 Lunch

2:40 - 4:15 Tour of the National Gallery of Ireland ......with a difference!
This tour is an introduction to the world of art using a unique chronological order and style to explain the essence of different art movements and chart their development through the many beautiful masterpieces the gallery has to offer - effectively a ‘crash course' in the history of art. At the end of a light, entertaining and interactive tour you will leave with a framework of knowledge and the confidence to enjoy future art viewing in any gallery.

4:30 - 5:15 Tea and Low Down session in your hotel.
Designed to give you just that, the low down on the play that you will attend later, this session will provide useful information on key aspects of the play and will enhance your experience of the performance.
